Salthouse Next Generation aroundtheyards MARINE EVOLUTIONS IS a new company started up by half- brothers Dan Davidson and Mark Boyce. They set up the business in October 2013, having both worked at Alloy Yachts in Auckland, where Dan was employed for 12 years as interior fitout supervisor, working on 10 projects, including Cary Ali and the award-winning Vertigo. They operate out of a boat-building shed on Dan’s property in Silverdale and are working on a 16m Don Senior design. The pair has finished the hull construction, which is in cold- moulded ply, and installed the rudder stocks and carbon fibre struts. Dan is particularly enjoying this build as he did his boat building apprenticeship with Don Senior. Having moved the boat to its Silverdale yard, Salthouse Next Generation removed almost everything onboard and started the extensive rebuild. A stunning Euro beech interior has been designed and is nearly complete. This included a redesign of spaces to enhance the three-cabin, twin-bathroom layout with an enclosed flybridge accessed by internal stairs and a huge saloon and galley. A covered al fresco dining area provides seating and dining for large groups as well as providing a choice of spots to relax. This Salthouse 63 provides an opportunity for a new owner to purchase an as-new vessel at a fraction of the cost of a new build and to make decisions including engine manufacturer, electronics and upholstery.
