...an entertaining boat to drive – almost like a big trailer boat in the way the hull reacts to the wheel... “” saloon and a big mid-cabin without compromising Luminaire’s pleasing proportions. Luminaire was launched in Timaru by container crane after an all-night road trip from Icon’s Rangiora workshop. After a few hours' testing, she was driven up the coast to Lyttelton where Icon Custom Boats handed over to the owners. The next day, they motored up the South Island’s east coast and across Cook Strait to Mana Marina, experiencing in a 4m following sea. A few days later, they motored across the strait for Luminaire’s maiden Marlborough Sounds cruise. Gary Tomes and I joined them at Blackwood Bay in Queen Charlotte Sound. FINE LINES Luminaire could only be a Scott Robson design. For such a big boat, she’s a real looker, and Robson has nailed the proportions perfectly, especially considering the size of the cockpit. The hull’s gentle sheer and a double chine tapering up towards the fine, raked bow carries the eye, while the curving hardtop and large tinted side windows offset the white-painted aluminium hull’s more angular lines. Five windscreen panes make for extreme strength for taking green water over the bow. marinco.com bepmarine.com EZ-Mount Battery Switches As easy as 1, 2, 3, these revolutionary battery switches allow you to wire from the front. Never has installation been so easy and cabling so accessible.
